Rehabilitating arable soils with cover crops

Cover crops such as charlock or clover not only improve soil quality—they can also bind or degrade pollutants. Researchers at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research demonstrate in a new study which plants are suitable for so-called phytoremediation and can thus contribute to healthier soils and more sustainable agriculture.
