What role does methanol play on the road to climate neutrality?
Reducing CO2 emissions is the challenge of our time. However, there are in fact some unavoidable sources of CO2, such as lime production or waste incineration. bse Methanol has developed a modular solution with which the unavoidable CO2 can be used to produce green methanol. The processes used in production, from CO2 capture and electrolysis to the actual synthesis, are well known and are already being used on a large industrial scale. The technical challenge now lies in efficiently linking these individual process steps.
Johann Kirchner, Head of Process Engineering at bse Methanol, explains how all of this can be implemented using dynamic processes, even without complex storage systems, despite the fluctuating availability of wind and solar energy.
