What do wastewater treatment, drinking water treatment, the steel industry, concrete, glass, food and cosmetics production have in common? Lime! Lime is a basic product that is at the beginning of the value chain in the manufacture of products. The production of lime is very energy-intensive and generates a lot of CO₂.



Our guest is Dr. Kai Schaefer from SCHAEFER KALK. As part of a Bioball project, the company and its partners are investigating how climate protection and value creation can be combined in the lime industry. To avoid CO₂ emissions, SCHAEFER KALK is endeavoring tocapture CO₂ from industrial and combustion processes and make it usable again in order to reuse the carbon source in subsequent processes.
