How can the lime industry reduce its greenhouse gas emissions?

What do wastewater treatment, drinking water treatment, the steel industry, concrete, glass, food and cosmetics production have in common? Lime! Lime is a basic product that is at the beginning of the value chain in the manufacture of products. The production of lime is very energy-intensive and generates a lot of CO2.



Our guest is Dr. Kai Schaefer from SCHAEFER KALK. As part of a Bioball project, the company and its partners are investigating how climate protection and value creation can be combined in the lime industry. To avoid CO2 emissions, SCHAEFER KALK is endeavoring tocapture CO2 from industrial and combustion processes and make it usable again in order to reuse the carbon source in subsequent processes
