A sustainable shrimp farm is being established at the Department of Animal Ecology at Justus Liebig University in Giessen. The feed for the crustaceans also contains insect larvae, which are being produced in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Marine Ecology and Food Science (IME).

During the event, you can visit both the insect breeding and the shrimp farm.   BioBall Project InA  We also introduce you to the researchers involved. It provides the framework for developing the scientific and technical foundations for this flexible, modular, scalable, and smart pilot plant for sustainable inland shrimp production based on regional side streams and using feeder insects (black soldier fly).
