Bioeconomy in the Rhine-Main Metropolitan Region: On the Path to a Circular Economy

We warmly invite you to the workshop "Bioeconomy in the Rhine-Main Metropolitan Region: On the Path to a Circular Economy" on June 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the DECHEMA House in Frankfurt (Theodor-Heuss-Allee 25, 60486 Frankfurt am Main).

As part of the BioBall innovation space, DECHEMA e.V., together with Fraunhofer IGB, is developing a bioeconomy profile for the metropolitan region based on the  urban BioEconomyLab  concept, which has already been successfully applied in the Stuttgart, Mannheim, and Karlsruhe regions.

We will present a status report on the Rhine-Main region with regard to its potential for a circular economy and would like to discuss with you which steps are necessary to accelerate this transformation. Alongside you, stakeholders from various sectors of the regional bioeconomy (governance, business & industry, energy, circular economy, environment) are invited. Together, we aim to identify key action areas for a circular economy to harness the opportunities of this transformation. We would like to discuss the following topics with you:

  1. Which bioeconomically relevant material flows exist in the region and how can they be efficiently utilized?

  1. What technological orientation is pioneering for the metropolitan region?

  1. What regulatory framework and infrastructural conditions are required?

Join us on June 23 to:

✅ Help shape the bioeconomy profile of the metropolitan region.

✅ Discover perspectives of innovative stakeholders on the regional bioeconomy.

✅ Establish valuable contacts with experts from research and industry.

This invitation is extended to everyone interested in advancing the bioeconomic transformation of the Rhine-Main metropolitan region. We look forward to welcoming you in Frankfurt.
